January First Friday @ Krzyz

Hey all,
Well, I don't know about you all but we're all looking forward to 2011 around here. We'd sure like to thank all of you who helped create the good memories from 2010 and to all our commercial photography clients and friends for their continued support, business and referrals. Krzyz Studio will not open for this month's First Friday, but we definitely want to wish you and yours a happy and prosperous new year! We plan to be open for future First Fridays, stay tuned, we might be shaking things up a bit….

Krzyz is at 1800 Locust, one block east of Oak in the heart of the east crossroads.

The Hilliard Gallery will prepping for next month but is open it's regular hours throughout the year. They also do fantastic custome framing whether you have one or one hundred pieces that need framing. Regular gallery hours: Tuesday-Friday 10-5, Sat. 11-4.  The Hilliard Gallery is at 1820 McGee. www.hilliardgallery.com

The Slap -n- Tickle Gallery will present local filmmaker and artist, John Barnes, who has a film series coming out in the Spring called, OV.  OV is a film series that deals with hidden emotions that come out in extreme and sometime violent ways and the ripple effect the emotions have in nature and the world around us. John Barnes (writer  & director) - finger painting, photography, & video montage, Bobbie  Sutcliffe (production manager) - photography, Molly Montgomery (make up/FX assistant) - shadowbox, Rhianna James (storyboards, production assistant) - Painting. The video montage will consist of images of emotions from the combined artist listed above. The band The Damn Young Livers (which has songs featured in the film) will be playing an acoustic set for musical entertainment. The Plenum Space Gallery will have Faint Flourishes, Prints by Estrella Payton. Estrella Payton is an artist based out of Kansas City, Missouri. Being born in Puerto Rico, but raised in Kansas City offered her a unique cultural and artistic background. She earned her BFA in printmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute and is currently a resident artist at the Arts Incubator. The opening reception will be Friday, January 7 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm, after which you can make an appointment to view the work by contacting Paula Rose at plenumspacekc@gmail.com.  at 504 E. 18th Street  http://www.plenumspace.weebly.com

December First Friday @ Krzyz Studio

Hey all,
 This month at Krzyz Studio, The Whimsical Six is back for the second year as the featured show for December First Friday (and Saturday) at Krzyz Studio. This holiday art event will feature the whimsical (hence the name!) designs of Joe Blake, Dick Daniels, Andrew Johnson, Amy Meya, Anthony Pack and Desiree Warren. We'll be open from 4pm-9pm Friday December 3rd and Saturday the 4th from 10am- 6pm.

We guarantee this show will produce smiles and laughs and there is a probability of some ooooo's an ahhhh's too. Hope to see you there!

  The Hilliard Gallery will be presenting an all small works show for its holiday open house on December 3rd. The work for this show will be all smaller works of art by the chosen group of artist. The work will include sculpture, paintings, photography, glass artwork, ornaments, drawings,and jewelery.  The artist will include, Guinotte Wise, Peter Cole, Tammy Smith, John Marak, Freddie Wise, Glass Eye Studios, Garth Mudge, Laura Simmons, Lacey Lewis, and others. The works in the show will all be smaller works by these emerging artist, just in time for the holiday gift giving. Artwork although smaller, is still of the great quality and uniqueness from these fine artist.  This opening will provide the opportunity to acquire a piece of original work from these artists at great gift giving prices, or to keep for yourself.  December 3rd 6-10pm opening reception. They'll start early Thursday, December 2nd, 5-9pm, then also be open Friday the 3rd, 11am-9pm, and Saturday the 4th. 11am-4pm, and by appointment until December 23rd. 10% of the proceeds from Thursday will benefit FINCA. November First Friday @ Krzyz Studio

Hey all,
 This month at Krzyz Photo, we'll have the mixed media work of Todd Meyers, and paintings of Ginger Lunt. We'll also have one of a kind clothing and jewelry art of "Love People Clothing" by Jodi Perez. It's going to be another great evening. We hope to see you there!

The Hilliard Gallery will have "A Muse Meants"- Joint show by Peter Cole and Tammy Smith. Local artists Tammy Smith (3D mixed media wire sculpture artist) and Peter Cole (painter- oil) explore the theme of  amusement park rides, games, and environments. The two artists who met last year discovered they had a mutual, long-time obsession with roller coasters, bumper cars, Ferris wheels, and carnivals. opening reception November 5th, 2010, 6-10pm, the show will run through November 27th. This month the Plenum Space Gallery will be showing "I Could Not Land a Plane" New Photography by Patrick Andrew Adams.
